
IVANO BORGAZZI
pianist, composer, he has studied at the
Berklee College Of Music in Boston. He then
settled in New York, where he had the possibility
to perform besides many of the most important
names in the international jazz scene such as
Lee Konitz, Harold Land, Jimmy Owens, Tommy Campell,
Craig Handy, Bruce Forman, Steve Turre, Paul Jeffrey,
Cameron Brown, Dewey Johnson, and many others. In
Europe he has been playing with: Heinz Becker, Joe Nay, Ellen
Christy, Billy Elgart, Jimmy Cobb. In Italy he has
been promoter of many groups and projects with several
great italian musicians. He has partecipated in the
recording of "Benefit", a Karl Potter's Album. In 1988
he partecipated in the Thelonious Monk Competition for
pianists that took place in Washington D.C. He composed
the music for the theatre-ballet performance "Opus 1"
and "Improvised Elements", both of them performed in
many italian theatres. One of the compositions has been
required by the Contemporary Art Centre G. Pompidou in
Paris. He is leader and member of the band Funky Company.
He is even member of the Jazz Art Orchestra with whom he has
performed in several festivals and Cultural Institutes in
S. Francisco (California), Ethiopia, Kenya, Norwey and Sweden.
He is now teaching at the CEPAM (Permanent Centre For Musical
Activities) in Reggio Emilia.
